1. Overview

The structural problem for inbound divers / 외국인 다이버의 구조적 문제

Korean dive shops are overwhelmingly built for the domestic phone + KakaoTalk workflow. In our dataset of 81 shops, phone is listed by 96% and KakaoTalk by ~49%, while a foreigner-usable, English, overseas-card pre-booking path exists at only a handful of shops. The booking funnel — not the diving itself — is the single biggest friction point for the inbound (foreigner → Korea) audience that is our core traffic.

한국 다이브샵 예약은 압도적으로 전화 + 카카오톡 중심이다. 81개 샵 중 전화 96%, 카카오 약 49%인 반면, 외국인이 영문·해외카드로 사전예약까지 끝낼 수 있는 경로는 극소수 샵에만 존재한다. 다이빙 자체가 아니라 예약 동선이 외국인 유입의 가장 큰 마찰 지점이며, 이것이 곧 우리 서비스의 커머스 기회다.

Reading / 해석: Jeju is the most digitized (highest website/kakao/platform adoption) and is where almost all foreigner-friendly and English-capable shops cluster. East Sea is the most phone-dependent. English-fluent shops (9) — best human-language fallback even if their online booking is Korean: BigBlue33, Haevit Dive, MJ Jeju Diving Club, SeaLife, The Blue Jeju Resort, V-Dive, Yong Dive (all Jeju); Dive for U (Busan, +JA), Seaworld Dive Center (Busan).

3.2 Channels a foreigner can actually complete a booking + payment in / 외국인이 결제까지 끝낼 수 있는 채널

Ranked by least friction for a non-Korean-speaker:

  1. Klook — English OTA, overseas card, voucher. Only shop: Hakpo Dive Resort (Ulleungdo).

  2. English direct-website booking forms (overseas card / WhatsApp / email):

  3. MyRealTrip listings (6 shops) — Korean product pages, but the app/web supports English UI and accepts payment; workable for a motivated foreigner. Naver Booking / SmartStore (Korean) — historically blocked foreigners at identity-verification; 2025–2026 Naver added passport-based verification + overseas-card registration in Naver Pay/Map, and Papago auto-translates listings/reviews. Bottom line / 결론: For a foreigner who books before arriving, the realistic English paths today are Klook (Hakpo only) and two Jeju English websites (BigBlue33, BadaDive). Everything else needs Korean, a KakaoTalk account, or a phone call — which is exactly the gap our service monetizes. / 도착 전 영문 사전예약이 되는 현실적 경로는 사실상 Klook(학포)·제주 영문 홈페이지 2곳뿐. 나머지는 한국어/카톡/전화 필요 — 이 격차가 우리의 수익 지점.


4. Platform Comparison (외국인 적합도 비교)

Foreigner-suitability = ability of a non-Korean-speaking inbound traveler to find, book in English, and pay with an overseas card. Commission columns are what the platform charges the operator (supplier-side) — these are not officially published per-vendor; ranges below are public secondary estimates, treat as verify.   • Klook: international experiences marketplace, English-first, handles payment + chargebacks + fraud; best foreigner experience but almost no Korean dive inventory (Hakpo is the standout). Korea scuba listings exist (Jeju scuba, Seogwipo freediving) but are few. Opportunity: more Korean shops are un-listed. / 외국인 경험은 최고지만 한국 다이빙 인벤토리가 거의 없음 — 학포가 예외. 미입점 샵 다수 = 기회.

  • MyRealTrip: #1 Korean travel super-app, primarily outbound/Korean-facing; its Korea dive listings are Korean-language. Inbound-foreigner traffic is served via its investee Creatrip (14 languages), which is a different listing set. Strategy / 전략: For inbound English traffic, deep-link to Klook listings and earn ~6.5%, while bundling Trip.com for transport/lodging.   • naver_booking deep-link → m.place.naver.com/place/{id}/booking (10 shops) — best native Korean booking funnel.
  • kakao_channel / open.kakao chat deep-link (29 shops) — but needs Korean; pair with a pre-filled English message template (our value-add).
  • website_booking (BigBlue33, BadaDive /en) — direct English checkout, highest-intent, commission-free for the shop → partnership leverage.
  • smartstore.naver product deep-link (9 shops) — Naver Pay checkout.

Productizable gaps (our wedge) / 제품화 가능한 빈틈

  • Supplier-side commission rates are NOT officially published for Klook / MyRealTrip / Waug / Trip.com per-vendor. All % in §4–§5 are public secondary estimates → verify before any business modeling. / 플랫폼이 운영자에게 부과하는 수수료는 공식 미공개 — 모두 2차 추정치, 사업 모델링 전 검증.
