Natural Monument No. 442 · Jeju Coastal Soft Coral Colony
Designated 2004-12-13 · Area 90,105,503㎡ · Korea's first ‘marine life habitat’ Natural Monument

The designated area covers the Seogwipo waters (around Beomseom, Munseom, Seopseom, Saeseom and Jigwido) and the Songaksan area. Many soft corals such as the bamsuji-maendeurami and geombulgeun-suji-maendeurami are designated as protected marine species (21 coral species) by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, so underwater contact and collection are prohibited.

When diving, be careful with fin kicks, gear and hand contact — once damaged, coral colonies recover very slowly.
